Fanti has been making wine here since 1938, and their know-how shows in every bottle. Gorgeous aromas of wild strawberries and fresh herbs. On the palate, it's got that classic Sangiovese cherry and violet character, super silky tannins, and a freshness that just won't quit.

"Color: bright ruby red. Nose: cherry and raspberry gives sweet and elegant notes. Palate: Decisive attack with sweet notes of small red fruits previously perceived by the nose. The tannins are fine and the acidity which accompanies the drink makes it fresh and pleasing." 91/100 James Suckling; 90/100 Wine Advocate

Tenuta Fanti's story in Montalcino stretches back to 1938 when they first established their estate in the region's coveted southern slopes. While many historic Tuscan estates were built on aristocratic foundations, the Fanti family began as farmers, deeply connected to working the land. Their intimate knowledge of Montalcino's soils has been passed down through four generations.

Today, the estate is run by Filippo Fanti and his daughter Elisa, who've combined their family's traditional wisdom with modern precision in both vineyard and cellar. Their 50 hectares of organically-farmed vineyards sit in the sweet spot of Montalcino's southern zone, where the warming Mediterranean influence and limestone-clay soils create perfect conditions for ripening Sangiovese.

What sets Fanti apart is their meticulous attention to detail in every bottle, whether it's their flagship Brunello or this Rosso. The same team tends the vines and makes both wines, using traditional large Slavonian oak casks for aging. While some producers treat their Rosso as a simple second wine, Fanti approaches it with the same exacting standards as their Brunello – making it one of the zone's most consistently overperforming wines.
