Can Sumoi is Pepe Raventós's high altitude natural wine project. The certified organic estate sits 600+ meters up the Serra de l’Home mountain range in northeast Penedès. These wines are nothing but stellar. All handpicked fruit.
"The 2022 Garnatxa Sumoll is sourced from Montmell in Penedès. Only 29% of the wine underwent barrel aging for nine months. This reductive red features undergrowth and blood orange aromas, along with hints of dried flowers and herbs. Dry and fairly rich on the palate, it has a glycerol mouthfeel that wraps up the tannins. The Garnatxa nicely buffers the rusticity of Sumoll." 93 Points, Vinous

Pepe Raventós’ passion for recovering the landscape and old high mountain vineyards in the heart of the Penedès led him to discover Can Sumoi. An integrated and abandoned estate, dating back to 1645, at 600m above sea level with 20ha of vines over 50 years old and 380ha of forest; a main winery and three late seventeenth century farmhouses where wine used
to be made.

An estate the creates an impression due to the solitude of the place that surrounds it and its magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea, and where, in just six harvests, we have recovered the entire abandoned vineyard, planted anew; and, we are helping to protect the forest that surrounds it. In addition to being placed in the context of natural wines and being recognized as one of the 100 best wineries in the world, according to the prestigious American magazine Wine & Spirits.

The Can Sumoi wines were born in 2017. All of them are organic and natural wines made with the minimum intervention possible in all viticulture and winemaking processes.

Can Sumoi is an example of landscape recovery, of wine culture and that agriculture is the most natural way of protecting the forest.
