Crafted from 4 all-star vineyard lots across Sonoma County, Bedrock’s 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is everything you want from Cabernet Sauvignon nothing you don't (too much oak). Minimal oaked Cabernet here. A true expression of the grape.

"Meant to be an entry-level wine, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma County) is positively stellar. Black cherry, gravel, lavender, mocha, licorice and spice are all dialed up. In its first vintages, this bottling was made from leftovers, but in 2023 the approach is more deliberate, and it shows. Vineyard sites are Bedrock, Lazy Dog, Monte Rosso and Montecillo." - 92 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Preserving California’s Historic Vineyards

Founded in 2007 by Morgan Twain-Peterson MW, son of Ravenswood’s Joel Peterson, Bedrock Wine Company was built with a mission to preserve California’s old-vine vineyards. Many of these sites, dating back to the late 1800s, are cultural treasures of the wine world. Bedrock’s role in saving and rehabilitating these vineyards has been pivotal to California’s viticultural heritage.

Farming and Vineyard Sources

The winery works with dozens of historic sites across Sonoma, Napa, Contra Costa, and Lodi. Farming is organic whenever possible and always guided by low-input practices. Key vineyards include Bedrock Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, planted in 1854; Evangelho Vineyard in Contra Costa County, known for its sandy soils and own-rooted vines; and Pagani Ranch in Sonoma, planted in the 1890s.

Winemaking Philosophy

Morgan applies a minimal intervention approach designed to maximize vineyard expression. Fermentations use native yeasts, extraction is gentle, and maturation takes place in a mix of oak foudres, puncheons, and neutral barrels alongside stainless steel. Whites, including the Sauvignon Blanc Musqué, receive the same careful treatment, showing how texture, aromatic lift, and minerality can coexist.

Wine Style and Reputation

Bedrock’s red wines are vibrant, structured, and complex, balancing ripe California fruit with freshness and longevity. The whites are expressive and textured yet retain energy and precision. Consumers and critics alike value Bedrock for its authenticity, transparency, and devotion to preserving California’s old-vine vineyards.
